'Renewing the Mind' Day-long Solitude Retreat

  • Cedarbrake Catholic Retreat Center (map)

‘Renewing the Mind’

We need space where God can cleanse the thoughts of our hearts and minds.  We don’t just need empty space, we also need a RE-filling of goodness, love and truth.  We are focusing this retreat on ‘Renewing the Mind’ based on Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

This idea is explored at length in Dallas Willard’s classic book, “Renovation of the Heart”.  We are taking a page out of that book to build the retreat around meditating upon God’s word specifically within:

   Psalm 23

   Psalm 145

The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7

   Colossians 3

   Romans 8

While any passage of scripture can be useful to meditate upon, these passages are good “Anchor” passages that allow us to renew our mind on both the heart of God and our place within His loving plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.

If you have been needing a day of solitude to slow down, rest and breathe in the Word of God, we would love to have you join this retreat.
